Golden SoFlat Acrylics: The Artist’s Dream for Matte, Smooth Coverage

Part One Of My Five Part Series - My Top Five Art Supplies

You know Golden Acrylic Paints have been around - they’re a leader in the acrylic paint field. So it should come as no surprise that Golden SoFlat blows the other matte acrylics out of the water. Read on for my in-depth review of this amazing paint. After all, I’ve only been a painter for forty years… I may just know a thing or two (wink).

You are going to fall in love with this paint.

The rich pigmentation and flawless matte finish of SoFlat make it my absolute favorite paint. It goes down with a smooth, even application without brush strokes.

Golden  Heavy Body

Benzimidazolone Yellow Medium (top)

Golden SoFlat Cadmium Primrose (bottom)

The flat, non-reflective surface make this paint ideal for artists looking for a velvety finish and a glare-free surface.

High pigment load means most of the colors cover in one coat. A real plus, and a time saver!

Unlike some other matte acrylics, SoFlat maintains a consistent appearance across different pigments. A real game changer!

You can write on it! Try that on regular acrylics.

It’s great for bold, flat areas of color.

Superior when taping off areas for a clean edge.

When it comes to varnishing, it’s best to use an isolation coat (soft gel gloss) and then use a matte varnish. These two in combination will give the best results and closest to the original color. As always, test first! Make a small sample painting using the colors in your original and test the isolation coat and varnish.
