Soothing LoFi Music For The Studio

Part Two Of My Five Part Series - My Top Five Art Supplies

It should come as no surprise that I consider music one of my top five art supplies. Maybe a better word would be art “inspirations” rather than supplies. In my forty odd years of being a working artist, music has played a big part in my creativity. It’s always going when I’m working. Whether it’s opera, EDM, classic rock or 80s synth pop, there is always music playing.

Maybe it’s because I started life as a musician, and that was the path I thought I’d take. But fate intervened, and here I am, many years later, having had a long career as a visual artist, not a musical artist.

If music be the food of love, play on.
— Shakespeare

There are still guitars hanging on my wall, but I don’t play like I used to. These days, I’m making music digitally on my iPad using Garage Band and Logic Pro. The thrill is still the same. From the first song I wrote at 9 years old, to the lofi melody I just completed the other day, it’s a type of creativity that always makes my heart beat just a little faster.

This particular video is a compilation of other artists. I didn’t write these songs. I am however, going to premier my new lofi song in the near future, so stay tuned!

In the meantime, I hope you’ll enjoy this curated list of music to inspire you and soothe you. It’s a musical space I’m really loving right now.
