  2. How long does acrylic paint take to dry? Acrylic paint usually dries within 20-30 minutes to the touch, but may take several hours or longer to fully dry depending on factors such as humidity, temperature, and thickness of paint layers. I like to use Glazing Liquid in my paint to keep it workable longer.

  3. How do you thin acrylic paint? Acrylic paint can be thinned with water, acrylic medium, or a combination of the two. The amount of thinning required depends on the desired consistency and application technique. I use either Glazing Liquid or Polymer Medium to thin my paint.

  4. Can acrylic paint be used on canvas? Yes, acrylic paint can be used on canvas as well as a variety of other surfaces such as paper, wood, and fabric. Here’s a list of some my favorite canvas, papers and boards as well as some other tools for painting.

  5. How do you clean acrylic paint brushes? Acrylic paint brushes can be cleaned with water and soap or a brush cleaning solution specifically designed for acrylic paints. It's important to clean the brushes thoroughly after use to prevent the paint from drying on the bristles. The best brush cleaner, hands down, Bristle Magic.

  6. How do you store acrylic paints? Acrylic paints should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. They should be tightly sealed and stored upright to prevent the paint from drying out.

  7. Can you mix acrylic paint with oil paint? No, acrylic paint and oil paint should not be mixed together as they have different properties and do not adhere well to each other.

  8. Can you use acrylic paint on top of oil paint? No, acrylic paint will not adhere to oil paint. You can however, use oil paint on top of acrylic paint. An economical way of working is to underpaint broadly with acrylic paint and then come back with oil paint for subsequent layers.

  9. Can acrylic paint be used for outdoor painting? Yes, acrylic paint can be used for outdoor painting as it is water-resistant when dry and can withstand exposure to the elements. However, it's important to use a paint specifically designed for outdoor use to ensure maximum durability.

  10. How do you create texture with acrylic paint? Texture can be created with acrylic paint by adding materials such as sand, fibers, or textured gels to the paint, or by using a variety of brush strokes and techniques such as impasto or drybrushing.
