Small But Mighty Acrylic Painting Workshop
Focus on Abstracts
July 1, 2023 11 am to 3 pm Pacific
Online in Zoom

Stuck in a rut? Don’t know what to paint? I got you. In this four-hour online acrylic painting workshop, I’ll show you how to get unstuck and create some wonderful paintings! We’ll start in a small format sketchbook and work up to a bit larger paintings. You should expect to start (and likely finish) 4-6 paintings in just four hours. You’ll see closeup what I’m doing from the overhead camera. I’ll talk about color, shape and composition. But don’t worry, you’ll work loose and be free! No photo reference needed! There will be a 20-minute break too, so you can stretch and get a cup of tea.
What You’ll Learn
Working on a smaller scale.
Correct tools for working smaller.
How to simplify your composition.
Drawing using ordinary shapes.
Mixing color efficiently.
Working with a limited palette.
Creating more paintings in less time.
You’ll also have two weeks to review the class recordings.

Materials List
Here are the recommended materials for this workshop:
My preferred paint: Golden Principal 10 Professional Fluid Set #905
Small canvas or canvas panels like these. I prefer SQUARE format.
A variety of brushes. This is a good flat set. This is a good round set.
Pencils and eraser
One dark pastel and one white pastel (or soft colored pencil).
Black Sharpie fine point
A table covering.
Water container.
Paper towels.
An apron or an old shirt. If you get paint on your clothes, rinse immediately in cold water.
If you have an easel, Great! If not, you can paint flat on a table, it works great.
